FICTION WORKSHOP with Alex Higley
5 Weeks | Saturdays, 9:30 am - 11:00 am ET (on Zoom) | Aug 23 - Sept 20, 2025
$450 | REGISTER

This workshop is for short story writers and novelists. Each writer will submit one story or novel chapter (up to 25 pages) to be workshopped by the class. Writers will also submit a revision of their piece for additional feedback. Brief reading assignments will include selections from Lucia Berlin, Juan Cárdenas, Louise Erdrich, Miranda July, Rivka Galchen, and Robert Adams, among others. Through these works, we’ll identify different approaches to the art of fiction, allowing us to focus our discussions on openings, transitions, specificity, and clarity. Writers will receive written notes from their peers on both their workshop submission and revision. Alex will also provide detailed editorial comments on both.

Please write to alex@greatplacebooks.com with questions.
